Tekniksprånget is a national initiative that helps young talents explore engineering careers through internships at companies across Sweden.
We started working with Tekniksprånget in September 2022, and the initial project included a pre-study with user research, new design on a new platform, among other things. Then we continued with a backlog, and ultimately we did a redesign two years later as they redid their visual identity.
Client: Tekniksprånget, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA)
Role: UX/UI Designer, Workshop Facilitator
Scope: Strategic research, user interviews, user survey, design concept, user-centered design and accessibility improvements
Platform: Optimizely CMS
Timeline initial project: September 2022 – April 2023
Timeline redesign: November 2024 – February 2025
Challenge
The original site had several issues:
Outdated structure and unclear navigation
Lack of inclusive design + not meeting WCAG AA guidelines
Visual inconsistencies and lack of brand cohesion
Content overload without clear user journeys
Goals
Clarify navigation and user flows for students and participating companies
Improve accessibility and follow WCAG guidelines
Create a more engaging and inspirational visual design
Reflect Tekniksprånget’s updated brand identity
My role & contributions
Planned and facilitated workshops with our PM and Tekniksprånget’s web project team
Planned, booked and conducted interviews with users to identify needs and pain points
Performed analysis, mapping of user journeys and created personas
Delivered design concepts based on the user insights
Collaborated closely with the client and developers throughout the whole project
Results
Improved navigation and clearer user flows
Visual design aligned with new brand identity
Inclusive design and at least WCAG level AA
Editorial flexibility for content updates (I was also a part of improving user experience for editors)
Strengthened communication of Tekniksprånget’s purpose and value
Key learnings
User insights are key – early research helped reveal what content actually mattered and how users approached the platform
Design evolves – a strong structure makes it easier to adapt to changes without a full rebuild
