About
Joakim Sommar
A creative problem solver
I am passio-… never mind. You've read that line a thousand times by now.
My work is a reflection of who I am: Thoughtful, curious, and constantly looking at the world from different perspectives.
I don’t just design experiences, I solve problems for the humans using them.
How I work
Accessible design
IAAP certified. Designing accessible experiences that work for users in diverse contexts - not just disabilities.
Listening first
I listen to business needs, users and problems before jumping to solutions.
Problem-solving
Mapping complex systems and workflows to find the simplest path forward.
Visual craft
Clean, purposeful interfaces that guide users and reinforce brand identity.
AI integration
Working with AI tools strategically – matching the right solution to each design challenge.
Frontend knowledge
Fluent in HTML & CSS, building toward React & TypeScript — bridging design and code by close collaboration with devs.
Outside of work
Whether navigating forest trails, exploring the world by motorcycle, or calm waters by kayak, I thrive outdoors. But I’m just as happy unwinding with my dog and finding balance in a quiet moment.
